The Street Party Project

Street Party Project

Street parties are a great way to develop community. We want to help people organise them in their communities! We have a PA and other equipment that can be borrowed, and we can share our experience to make the logstics easier. If you'd like help organising your street party, please reach out!

In 2017 we received funding to support the Black Street Neighbourhood party and the Creighton Street Painting Party, 2 local Halifax North End street parties in celebrating Canada 150 (aka Resistance 150). Our focus was on Diversity, Inclusion, and Explorations of Identity.

Celebration of Canada's 150th is a contentious subject, and we wanted to create a platform for local artists to explore identity and what it means to be "Canadian" in the 21st century.

We ran community arts workshops exploring identity, and hosted a song contest honoring local hero, Portia White. Thanks to Nova Scotia department of Communities, Cultures, and Heritage for funding this project!
